Babáwándé- Yoruba Poem Series

Babáwándé

He is skilled at making stones
from pounded yam.
He’d aim one at Ifa
and the other, against Egunjobi.
It was as simple as farting.
He had done it several times.

He had always sought the trouble
of the gods, and often went into hiding.
But soon, the gods found him…

They sent him a little weary spirit
which ceased him by the leg,
raised him up and
landed him on the ground again.
